The Fire Apes Solidify

We are excited to have our former Guitarist, Frank Royster, back in the band. Frank is an amazing guitarist and vocalist (be sure to come on out to The Map Room this Saturday to hear for yourself!). He truly understands "The Fire Apes" musically, and we're honored to have such a talented musician playing with us again as we approach a busy touring and recording schedule.... there's even a quick blurb about it in this week's Charleston City Paper:

"It's been a little over two years since local singer/guitarist John Seymour reassembled his guitar-pop band The Fire Apes. Six years had passed since the band's official split-up. The lineup included drummer Tom Hamer and bassist Julian Volpe. Keyboardist Hugh Knight came on board last year. In recent months, Seymour tinkered with the lineup a bit more. This week, official word came in that the current Apes features Hamer, Volpe, Knight ... and longtime scenester Frank Royster on additional guitar. Royster is known best among local rock fans for his busy work with heavy-duty bar band The Hed Shop Boys and his more melodic and Beatles-esque solo work. The reinforced lineup make their debut at the Map Room on Sat. March 29 with The Guilt Trips opening. Visit www.thefireapes.com and www.themaproom.net for more. -TBL"

SE Performer Magazine

There's a short blurb on us in this month's SE Performer Magazine, a really great publication with news and reviews about unsigned bands and artists. See the short below and be sure to check them out on MySpace at: www.myspace.com/southeastperformer

On January 4, The Fire Apes were voted Airspun's "Best of 2007" in the rock genre. They'll be featured in a radio showcase along with winners of Best Pop/AC and Best R&B, Brittany Elizabeth and Laura Lambert. The Fire Apes have won a number of other fan-juried competitions over the last year, including Net Music Maker's Live Band contest in January 2007, College of Charleston's Battle of the Bands in March 2007, and 96 Wave's Locals Only Live Competition in June 2007. They'll be touring the Carolinas through July 4, when they'll play the Independence Day at the Charlotte Pop Fest.
