GarageBand.com Competition... Round #3

Congratulations are in order! We heard from Garageband.com and "Hey Kate! did a bang up job in Round 2 of their Active Contest... and held its own against some stiff competition. It's been reviewed by folks all over the world, been subjected to raw, unfiltered scrutiny from people we don't even know...and guess what?.... They liked it! The blood, sweat and tears have paid off.

It's presently at #4 on their Power Pop chart, and #55 on their Pop chart.

"Hey Kate!" made it to the upper echelon of its genre, and will now move on to the next level to battle it out with its peers in Round 3. Songs in Round 3 will move through an entirely new review cycle, to be reviewed and ranked against the other top songs in their genre. A new new ranking will be based on a combination of this new data and the old data. When the dust settles, those left standing at the top of the charts will get a shot at moving on to Round 4 and be one step closer to getting played on Yahoo! Launch radio.

Check out some of the awards "Hey Kate!" received in the previous rounds:

'Apes Embark On Rock and Roll Adventure

The Fire Apes draw the focus on The Rock and Roll Report for Tuesday, February 12, 2008. "Hey Kate!" gets its first run on the show, which is broadcast from 10:00 - 11:00 PM EST on CKUT 90.3 FM – Montreal, Canada.

The Rock and Roll Report began as a blog, but has since evolved into a place where a loosely drawn group of contributors write about bands and artists, record labels and radio stations, blogs and magazines that they are passionate about and in their mind epitomize what rock and roll is all about.

The Rock and Roll Report continues its mission of searching out those artists that create the kind of rock and roll that, deep down, all want to hear. They don’t discriminate based on modes of distribution as it has become clear that for the most part, major record labels seem less interested in real rock and roll and more interested in feeding the lowest common musical denominator. Mark Boudreau, host of The Rock and Roll Report, takes his search elsewhere, to the hundreds of indie and DIY labels that were created by those still passionate about rock and roll.

Said Boudreau, "I play the cool stuff guaranteed to get your rock and roll heart beating…"

The Rock and Roll Report can be heard monthly on the Drastic Plastic Program on CKUT 90.3 FM – Montreal, Canada. CKUT's music programming emphasizes the uncommon, the new, and the daring. They have a variety of specialized music programs as well as open format programs that span many musical genres. DJs make their own musical selections, without the aid of a playlist, choosing from recordings sent to CKUT by artists and record companies around the world as well as from their own private collections.
